In the last few weeks, we’ve had a couple of speakers drop out, but a number of new ones step up to share their real-world experiences and expertise with our attendees!

JIM LONG, also known as @NewMediaJim, is a news producer and cameraman for NBC News, working in Washington DC with the White House and Pentagon press corps. He has traveled the world aboard Air Force One, with US President Barack Obama, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and other US government and military leaders, documenting and filming them for NBC. He also has an amazing story to tell, transitioning his career from traditional media to social media as one of the very first news professionals on Facebook and Twitter.

SHAUNA CAUSEY is the social and digital media lead for Nordstrom, a Rs 47,000-crore retailer (yes, you read that correctly) based in the United States. Shauna is a frequent speaker both on social media strategy as well as on social media for non-profits. Formerly with US cable television giant Comcast, Shauna is the founder of #VolunTweetup, an event series dedicated to providing free social media advice to non-profits. He was one of the first traditional media professionals to embrace new media. He has a practical, pragmatic approach to how brands (personal or corporate) can use social media to come out from behind the curtain, show their human side, find their brand champions within, and to get their message out.

Jim will join us from Washington DC at 9:00am on Sunday. Don’t miss this fascinating storyteller!

While it has been going on for a number of years, social media is still the hype. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Foursquare, Quora and many other platforms vie for our attention, and they seem to be getting it. As a results, brands want to be there too. After all, where there are eyeballs, there are opportunities for business.

But in their haste to acquire the latest bright and shiny object, many brands stumble. As a result they waste money or even alienate exactly the people they wanted to attract.

In his keynote “Don’t Try This At Home,” FutureLab’s Stefan Kolle will take you through some of the worst mistakes Western brands have made when venturing into social media and highlight the lessons which the Indian business community can draw from this. He will also introduce his Relevance, Engagement, Reputation framework. This will leave you with a number of important pointers when it comes to your own social media efforts.

After six years of pushing by pundits, techies and enthusiasts, the use of social media in marketing and communications programs has gone from “let’s wait and see” to an unequivocal YES for many marketing teams. Yet efforts are often disconnected from traditional marketing efforts, or planned separately as an adjunct. The social media journey for many companies is 1) try it out, 2) set up pages, 3) use promos, contests and offers, and then 4) buy fans via social ads. What comes next? No one knows.

In this keynote, veteran digital marketer Eric Weaver will present a new vision for this journey that gets out of a tool mindset and gets you thinking about how to align not just marketing or PR with social tools, but to integrate customer engagement and feedback throughout the entire value chain. He will show how major global brands are rethinking social media beyond content publishing, toward engagement, influence and advocacy, and how traditional and social efforts can and should be planned together — not to “get more likes,” but to increase revenue.

Attendees will walk away with a better understanding of how to craft integrated strategies that will truly push the needle.

AUDIENCE: CMOs, VPs and Directors of Marketing, agency planners, strategists

PRESENTATION PREVIOUSLY SEEN AT: Social Media 301 Conference @ Microsoft, 140 Characters Conference Washington DC, 140 Characters Conference Los Angeles, 2010 Internet Marketing Conference, Pepperdine University School of Business and Management, Mount Royal University’s #mruSHIFT
